Participation of NNEO at the NGO Fair - 6 Forum of the Civil Society in Macedonia
The NGO Fair - 6th Forum of the Civil Society in Macedonia (NGO Fair) took place from 16th to 17th November 2007 at the Skopje Fair. It is organised by Macedonian Center for International Cooperation. The NGO Fair consists of three components: Forum activities; Exhibition part; Socio-cultural events.

WAD completes project to prevent prostitution and trafficking in Bulgarian communities
The Women's Alliance for Development has successfully implemented an initiative to reduce child prostitution and trafficking in two Bulgarian towns. The project was funded through the Democracy Commission of the US Embassy in Bulgaria and ran during the summer in Targovishte and Sandanski. The objective was to reduce the danger of prostitution and trafficking of children from social groups particularly at risk. WAD's project partners were the Ideas and Values Foundation in Sandanski and the NAIA Association in Targovishte. It was the third WAD project of this type and the organization remains firmly committed to doing what it can to help prevent these abuses.

The delegation of nine was led by chairperson Anna Zaborska and first vice-chairperson Edite Estrela. The meeting, in October, was also attended by Kemal Eyup, chairman of Bulgaria's Parliamentary Commission for Protection Against Discrimination, Plamenka Markova from the Bulgarian Centre for Gender Research and Stanimira Hadzhimitova, chairperson of the Bulgarian Fund for Women..

Overview of Women’s Political Participation at 2005 Parliamentary Elections
The results of the elections with the announcement of the 240 new MPs can be seen as a step backwards in terms of women representation in parliament. The number of women MPs has fallen to 51 women MPs (21.3%) compared to 63 (26.3%) women in the previous parliament. In spite of all, another very interesting and significant development in the behaviour of the big parties is that there have been established strong "women's" regions, where strong women candidates are running against other strong women candidates. .

.: WAD continues its successful work in the garment industry
Between December 12th and 14th, in partnership with the international Fair Labour Association (FLA), experts at the Women's Alliance for Development and the Balkan Institute for Labour and Social Policy (BILSP), delivered a training session on international labour standards, national labour laws and corporate social responsibility. The training was held at the Bulgarian branch of the Turkish holding company Sahinler in Kurdjali. Participants were both workers directly occupied with production and supervisors and management representatives. The training included a presentation on the key labour standards of the International Labour Organization (ILO), an excerpts from national legislation on the principal rights and obligations of employees, and presentations, discussions and roles plays about corporate social responsibility in enterprise. The company's management expressed a wish for the information to be circulated among the seminar participants and also among the rest of its workforce, and in this way improve the social climate and dialogue within the factory.   More read here..
